Conference Poles in the Near East 2021
Registration of participants is now open for the archaeological conference “Poles in the Near East” co-organized by the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology of the University of Warsaw and the Faculty of Archaeology of the University of Warsaw. This year’s conference will take place online and its program features over 50 presentations by researchers from Polish and foreign institutions, including a panel devoted to the archeology of Cyprus. Konferencja Polacy na Bliskim Wschodzie 2021
Serdecznie zapraszamy do wzięcia udziału w konferencji „Polacy na Bliskim Wschodzie” współorganizowanej przez Centrum Archeologii Śródziemnomorskiej UW i Wydział Archeologii UW. W programie jest ponad 50 wystąpień badaczy z różnych ośrodków krajowych i zagranicznych, a w tym panel poświęcony archeologii Cypru. Pierwszy dzień konferencji koncentruje się na archeologii Cypru w okresach hellenistycznym i rzymskim. Wszystkie 15 prezentacji podczas tego panelu tematycznego zostanie wygłoszonych w jęz. angielskim. 60 lat stosunków dyplomatycznych pomiędzy Polską i Cyprem
W 2021 roku mija 60 lat od nawiązania relacji dyplomatycznych pomiędzy Polską i Cyprem. Polska była jednym z pierwszych krajów, które uznały Republikę Cypryjską po uzyskaniu przez nią niepodległości w 1960 roku. Niezbędne porozumienia dyplomatyczne zostały zawarte na początku 1961 roku, kiedy oba nasze kraje były gotowe do nawiązania oficjalnych stosunków. Uzgodniono, że ta uroczysta decyzja wejdzie w życie z chwilą opublikowania stosownej informacji w głównych dziennikach obu krajów. Stało się to dokładnie 60 lat temu - 15 stycznia 1961 roku. 60 years of diplomatic relations between Poland and Cyprus
2021 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and Cyprus. Poland was one of the first countries to recognize the Republic of Cyprus after its independence in 1960. The necessary diplomatic agreements were concluded in early 1961 when both our countries were ready to establish official relations. It was agreed that this solemn decision would enter into force as soon as the relevant information was published in the main newspapers of both countries. New home of the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia
The winning design for the new headquarters of the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia has been selected. The construction is to be announced in 2021, In a three-level building located in the green part of Nicosia, the history of Cyprus will be presented from prehistoric times, through the classical, Hellenistic, and Roman periods, until the end of antiquity.
